How to compress an image
- Drop one or more images into the box.
- Lower the quality for smaller files (70–80 looks the same to most people), and optionally set a maximum width.
- Download the compressed images — the list shows how much smaller each one got.
How it works
- JPG and WebP are re-encoded at the quality you choose.
- PNG is optimised losslessly with oxipng: exactly the same pixels, smaller file.
- Switch format for the biggest savings: a PNG photo saved as WebP or JPG is often 80–90% smaller.
- Resize phone photos to 1920 px wide for email and websites — that alone cuts most of the size.
If a file can't get any smaller, you get the original back instead of a bigger copy.
Why compress images?
- Upload forms with a size limit (job applications, government sites, marketplaces).
- Faster websites — images are usually the heaviest part of a page.
- Email attachments that stay under the limit.
Frequently asked questions
Will compressing reduce quality?
At quality 70–80 the difference is usually invisible. PNG optimisation is completely lossless.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser; your images never leave your device.
Can I compress HEIC photos?
Yes. HEIC, AVIF and JXL are converted to JPG (or the format you choose) while compressing.
Is there a limit?
Up to 50 images at a time, 60 MB each.
