How to make a GIF from a video
- Drop your video into the box.
- Play the preview and click Use current time to set the start and end (up to 30 seconds).
- Pick a frame rate and width, then click Convert to GIF.
Keep your GIF small
- Shorter is better — 2 to 6 seconds is ideal for reactions and loops.
- 10 fps looks smooth enough for most clips; 15–20 fps for fast motion.
- 480 px wide works for chat apps and social media; use 320 px for very small files.
Which videos work?
Any video your browser can play: MP4 (H.264), WebM and most MOV files from phones. iPhone videos in HEVC play in Safari, Edge and Chrome on most computers. The video is processed on your device — nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. Frames are captured and encoded in your browser.
Is there a watermark?
No watermark, ever.
Why is the GIF large?
GIF is an old format with limited compression. Lower the frame rate, width or length to make it smaller.
Why can't I open my video?
Your browser can't play that codec. Try converting it to MP4 (H.264) first, or use a different browser.
